‘TAINTED DREAMS’ EXECUTIVE PRODUCER SONIA BLANGIARDO DISCUSSES HOW EMMY’S ‘NEW APPROACHES’ BRINGS OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

NYC Brand Productions first scripted series, Tainted Dreams garners its first Emmy nomination from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) in a new category making its debut this year, Outstanding New Approaches – Drama Series. Tainted Dreams shares its nomination in this category with pioneering programs Devanity, Venice The Series, and The Power Inside.

Tainted Dreams’ executive producer and two-time Emmy-winning director/producer, Sonia Blangiardo says, “All of us at NYC Brand Productions are tremendously grateful to the Academy for recognizing the importance and growth of new approaches to drama, particularly daytime drama. Daytime drama suffered so many losses over the past few years, it is rewarding and gratifying to see its resurgence in general and in particular, to be a part of formulating new models of creating, producing and distributing serial drama. We applaud and thank the Academy for fostering and encouraging these new approaches.”

Blangiardo went on to say, “Our team is genuinely thrilled and humbled to receive an Emmy nomination based on the three webisodes we made available as a sneak peek. With Tainted Dreams, our team wanted to create a high-quality series, accessible to as many viewers as possible, and sustainable for multiple seasons. Finding the right distribution model and platform to achieve our goal is taking longer than we anticipated, but we have more than six hours of Tainted Dreams Season 1 we are excited for fans to see.”

Blangiardo invites everyone to “enjoy our new All-Star promo from the Tainted Dreams cast saluting the collective daytime heritage of our cast, and if you havent seen them, catch our first three Emmy-nominated webisodes free at Tainted Dreams Sneak Peek.”

Tainted Dreams‘ all-star ensemble includes Alicia Minshew (All My Children), Terri Ivens (All My Children), Grant Aleksander (Guiding Light), Kelley Menighan Hensley (As the World Turns), Walt Willey (All My Children), Natalia Livingston (General Hospital), Marnie Schulenburg (As the World Turns), Michael Lowry (All My Children), Austin Peck (Days of our Lives), Colleen Zenk (As the World Turns), Larkin Malloy (Edge of Night and All My Children), Nathan Purdee (One Life to Live and The Young and the Restless), Ilene Kristen (Ryan’s Hope and One Life to Live), Tonja Walker (General Hospital and One Life to Live), James DePaiva (One Life to Live), Dina Manzo (Dinas Party and Real Housewives of New Jersey), Lisa Marie Varon (IMPACT WRESTLING), Mr. PEC-Tacular Jessie Godderz (IMPACT WRESTLING and Big Brother), soap columnist and author of Afternoon Delight:  Why Soaps Still Matter, Carolyn Hinsey and from the Off-Broadway comedy hits, My Big Gay Italian Wedding and My Big Gay Italian Funeral Anthony Wilkinson, Debra Toscano, Paul Moon, Brian Patrick Murphy, Brett Douglas, Erik Ransom, Meagan Robar and Marissa Perry with billboard dance chart topper, Kim Sozzi and introducing newcomer, MaryBeth Griffith of Columbus, Ohio.

Tainted Dreams has everything one would want in an online soap or any soap for that matter. The sudsy webseries is full of sex, scandal, mystery, and intrigue. The brainchild of Emmy-winning producer/director Sonia Blangiardo is all about the sexy outlandish happenings behind the cameras of the fictional New York soap Painted Dreams.

Not only does it include some of the genre’s favorite actors but it provides its audience with a nice tongue in cheek peek at what it may or may not be like on the set of a soap opera.  The concept of a soap about a soap works because of the knowledgeable writing and acting. Blangiardo’s creation doesn’t over indulge in pretense. While there are several nods to the real soap industry, Blangiardo clearly understands that the soap fans are her target audience…

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Austin Peck Latest Soap Hunk Cast in “Tainted Dreams”

Peck to the “Max”

Austin Peck from JPI

NEW YORK CITY, March 8, 2013 – NYC Brand Productions has announced veteran star of “Days of our Lives,” “As The World Turns” and “One Life to Live,” Austin Peck is set take on the role of “Max,” a sexy, self-absorbed, womanizing, soap star in “Tainted Dreams,” a new, scripted “soap within a soap” set to blow the lid off the behind-the-scenes shenanigans of producing a daily soap opera.

Peck is no stranger to soaps or its behind-the-scenes drama. In 1995, Peck landed the role of the very popular “Austin” on NBC’s “Days of our Lives.” After leaving “Days,” Austin added many small and big screen credits to his resume, including roles in “CSI: NY,” “Strong Medicine,” “The District,” “Charmed,” “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” and the independent movies “Breaking Dawn” and “Dating Games People Play.”

In 2007, Peck took over the role of “Brad Snyder” on CBS’ “As the World Turns,” and in 2011, Peck created the memorable role of smarmy, porno-film producer, “Rick Powers” on ABC’s “One Life To Live.” During his tenure on “One Life to Live,” Peck became engaged to co-star Terri Conn who played the role of “Aubrey Wentworth.” Conn and Peck met while both were working on “As The World Turns” where Conn played “Katie,” and the duo married in July 2011. In November 2012, the Pecks welcomed the birth of their daughter, Keira Grace Peck. Last September, Conn and Peck co-hosted Investigation Discovery’s “Days of Our Knives” “Family Secrets” week.

“Tainted Dreams” is the brain-child of two-time Emmy-winning producer/director Sonia Blangiardo who is currently serving as Supervising Producer of Prospect Park’s reboot of Agnes Nixon’s iconic soap “All My Children.” Blangiardo worked with Peck at both “As The World Turns” and “One Life to Live.”

“Tainted Dreams” boasts a unique combination of high profile soap stars, reality stars, sports figures, singers and theater actors. To date, casting announcements for “Tainted Dreams” include Dina Manzo (“Dina’s Party and “Real Housewives of New Jersey”) Alicia Minshew (“All My Children”), Kelley Menighan Hensley (“As The World Turns”), Walt Willey (“All My Children”), Marnie Schulenburg (“As The World Turns”), Michael Lowry (“All My Children”) and Anthony Wilkinson (“My Big Gay Italian Wedding”).

Distribution details for “Tainted Dreams” are not yet finalized.
