Nathan Purdee is best known to soap fans as Hank Gannon, the no-nonsense Llanview District Attorney on One Life to Live from 1992-2003. Prior to that, Purdee played reformed mobster turned private investigator Nathan Hastings, Sr. on The Young and the Restless from 1984-1992. No stranger to playing powerful, tough men in film, television and theatre, Nathan Purdee most recently appeared as a Congressman in Netflix’s megahit House of Cards.
Since moving to New York in 1992, Purdee has had the lead roles in two independent films and begun his own production company, Karmic Release, Ltd. He served as Executive Producer on his first film Wallowitch & Ross: This Moment, heralded as “one of the outstanding documentaries of the year” by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Purdee most recently appeared as Buster Neal in the stage production of The Legend of Buster Neal.
When not working as an actor on stage and screen, Purdee works as a recurring Actor/Trainer for John J College for Criminal Justice, which has created and promotes a program dedicated to training the graduating New York Police Recruits and various other law enforcement officials in community relations and non-aggressive alternatives in dealing with EDP’s (Emotionally Disturbed Persons). In Pennsylvania, Purdee earned his photography degree and has studied at ICP in New York City, with legendary photographer, Lucien Clergue at his workshop in Provence, France, and with mentor photographer Howard Schatz. Purdee’s works include Landscapes, Architecture, Portraits and Fine Art. His extensive travel has allowed him to build a body of work that includes many interesting locations and people. He has photographed for publishers Simon and Shuster, “Confederacy of Silence,” American Photo Magazine, The World Tribune Press, The San Francisco Herald, and for music distributor Siahson, SYLVER.
